Fatal Rollover Crash Hughes Lane and Holden Way in South Bakersfield

One Dead | Two Injured in Crash at Bakersfield Intersection
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 12, 2025) — One person is dead and two others injured after a two-vehicle crash Saturday night at Hughes Lane and Holden Way in South Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department is heading up an investigation into the cause of the deadly crash that happened around 8:50 p.m. on May 10, 2025.
A man was found beneath an overturned SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a second man who was riding in the SUV was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
Additionally, a male driver from the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Detectives determined the SUV was heading southbound on Hughes Lane before its driver tried to turn eastbound onto Holden Way. However, the driver turned directly into the path of a northbound vehicle and was broadsided. That’s when the SUV overturned and its driver appears to have been ejected.
The investigation into what happened is ongoing.
