Woman Killed in Sacramento Crash on Highway 50
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 24, 2022) — A fatal Sacramento crash on Highway 50 early Thursday near the 59th Street off ramp.
The crash happened about 4 a.m. on March 24th on the eastbound side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The initial crash happened when a 25-year-old Sacramento woman reportedly crashed into water-filled attenuators in the No. 4 lane at the 59th Street off ramp. During the collision, her vehicle overturned in the roadway.
Meanwhile, a few minutes later, a white SUV driven by 56-year-old woman crashed into the small black overturned car. The larger vehicle also overturned onto its roof. Sacramento fire crews responded to help those hurt in the crash.
Sadly, the 25-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash. The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner identified her as Isabelle Deleigh Cassio.
Additionally, the woman driving the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Police closed down all lanes of US Highway 50 at 59th Street and the roadway reopened around 7:30 a.m.
