2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Spence
SPENCE, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2024) — A fatal crash involving two vehicles happened Monday morning on the northbound Highway 101 and Spence Road in Spence, just south of Salinas.
The deadly collision occurred at around 9:19 a.m. on Jan. 22nd in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a black SUV and a grey vehicle collided on the northbound Highway 101 due to unknown circumstances. At least one person became trapped in a vehicle and died on scene, the CHP report said. Paramedics responded to help anyone hurt in the crash, but it’s unknown if anyone was taken to a hospital.
Tow trucks removed both of the vehicles from the northbound lanes of Highway 101.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
