Deadly Collision on Espinosa Road in Salinas
SALINAS, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2023) — At least one person died in a head-on Salinas crash on Espinosa Road Monday morning, just east of Castroville Road.
The two-vehicle collision occurred near 53 Espinosa Road at around 5:47 a.m. on Nov. 20th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a Nissan Maxima and a second vehicle were involved in the wreck. It’s unknown what led up to the accident, but the Nissan wound up roughly 10 feet off the road with major front-end damage, the report said.
Responding police and paramedics located three people with injuries including one man with major injuries, but but one of them unfortunately died on scene. Two of the injured were still inside the vehicles and one exited and was able to walk when authorities arrived.
Authorities closed down Espinosa Road due to the crash and investigation. Meanwhile, tow trucks removed both vehicles due to heavy damage.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Salinas crash on Espinosa Road. The roadway reopened to traffic at around 8:50 a.m., police said.
