Man Killed in Bay Ho Crash on Balboa Avenue
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2018) — A 37-year-old man died Monday night when he allegedly ran a red traffic light and crashed into another motorist in the Bay Ho community, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash was reported about 11:13 p.m. last night at Balboa Avenue and Clairemont Drive. A 24-year-old woman was driving her Toyota Celica east on Balboa Avenue and the man was traveling in a Ford F-15o pickup truck northbound on Clairemont Drive. The woman had the green light and the man had the red light when he broadsided her Toyota.
Pickup Truck Overturns on Balboa Avenue
The pickup truck overturned multiple times and the man was thrown out of it. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The report did not state whether or not the woman was hurt in the crash.
San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating the crash to determine fault.

A forensic examination of the vehicles involved is underway by police. They will piece together evidence and any witness statements to determine fault. It appears at this time that the man driving the pickup truck may have caused the crash, but we don’t know if a mechanical problem or dangerous condition contributed to the collision.
