Motorcyclist Hit by Two Drivers on 805 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2023) — A fatal San Diego motorcycle accident happened on the southbound Interstate 805 Freeway Monday night near the Interstate 5 Freeway interchange.
A 39-year-old motorcyclist died in the 9 p.m. collision on Nov. 6th between his black Harley Davidson bike and a Honda Crosstour SUV, the California Highway Patrol said.
The motorcyclist was reportedly stopped on the freeway due to unknown reasons when an oncoming SUV struck the bike, according to the San Diego Union Tribune. The rider was thrown off his bike and landed into another lane where he was hit by a second motorist, but that driver failed to stop.
Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider sustained major injuries and died at the scene. The San Diego Medical Examiner has not released his name.
Investigators closed down the two right lanes of the southbound I-805 to determine fault for the collision.
Only the driver in the Honda stopped and police say he or she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. However, there is a pending toxicology report for the motorcyclist.
Finally, witnesses are asked to contact the CHP at (858) 293-6000.
