Pedestrian Struck, Killed on I-5 Freeway in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2022) — A fatal San Diego pedestrian accident on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway happened Thursday morning at Sassafras Street.
The collision occurred about 6:06 a.m. on Sept. 22nd, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The CHP reported a driver in a blue Subaru struck the person in the slow lane. Next, a driver in a silver Kia Sportage collided with the Subaru in a separate collision.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene of the crash. The victim’s name, age and gender are unknown at this time.
There are no injuries reported from the crash between the two vehicles.
Investigators are piecing together evidence and witness statements to determine liability for the fatal pedestrian accident on the I-5 Freeway.
