Pedestrian Struck, Killed on the I-5 Freeway in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 8, 2022) — A fatal San Diego pedestrian accident happened early Friday morning on the I-5 Freeway, just north of Sea World Drive.
The collision occurred about 1:55 a.m. on July 8th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a blue Hyundai sedan reportedly struck the unidentified man in the northbound lanes of the freeway. It’s unknown why the victim was walking in traffic lanes.
Sadly, the man suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Authorities closed down multiple lanes for roughly a couple of hours due to the crash.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old motorist involved in the crash stopped and is cooperating with authorities. Police did not mention if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Finally, investigators are working on the case and will determine fault.
