Man, 57, Struck, Killed Walking on Waring Road On Ramp
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 28, 2022) — A fatal San Diego pedestrian accident happened Sunday afternoon as a man walked on a westbound Interstate 8 Freeway on-ramp at Waring Road.
The collision occurred about 3:15 p.m. on June 26th, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
A driver in a white Mercedes-Benz sedan struck the 57-year-old man as he walked on the Waring Road on-ramp.
The woman reportedly saw the man walking on the ramp and braked, but a white Chevrolet SUV rear-ended her car and the SUV overturned and hit the pedestrian.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to a hospital where he later died, police said.
The San Diego Medical Examiner did not release the man’s name.
Meanwhile, the driver in the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries, but the driver in the Mercedes-Benz was not hurt.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash.
