Woman, 57, Killed in Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Wednesday at Mira Mesa and Pacific Heights boulevards in Sorrento Valley.
The San Diego Police Department reported the crash around 8:16 p.m. on Sept. 20th.
A 40-year-old man driving a 2016 Chrysler Pacifica van struck the victim as he traveled eastbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard, Fox 5 News reports.
It happened at the intersection with Pacific Heights Boulevard where a 57-year-old woman reportedly attempted to cross Mira Mesa Boulevard against a red light.
Authorities believe the women stepped into the path of the van when she was hit and suffered major injuries. She reportedly died shortly after the accident.
The San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating, but early indications are that alcohol was not a factor contributing to the crash.
Witnesses to the pedestrian accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
