Fatal San Jose Collision on Highway 101 near Oakland Road

SAN JOSE, Calif., (September 22, 2026) — A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened Monday night on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Oakland Road offramp in San Jose.

The incident, reported on Sept. 22nd at approximately 11:28 p.m., involved a black Toyota Prius, a gray Nissan Juke, and a black Toyota Camry, the California Highway Patrol reported. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they found the involved vehicles blocking the middle lanes of the freeway.

The black Toyota Camry, which sustained moderate front-end damage, was towed from the scene as evidence, according to the incident logs. The occupants of the involved vehicles were transported to a regional medical center for further treatment, although the extent of their injuries remains undisclosed at this time.

The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The San Jose Fire Department, alongside the California Highway Patrol, worked diligently to clear the roadway, reopening all lanes by 2:06 a.m.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have requested that any witnesses come forward to assist in the investigation. The involvement and roles of each vehicle in the collision are currently under scrutiny.
