Deadly Crash on the Interstate 680 Freeway in San Jose
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2022) — A fatal collision involving a pedestrian happened early Monday on the Interstate 680 Freeway near the Capitol Expressway on ramp in San Jose.
The traffic accident occurred about 12:37 a.m. on Oct. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a black Lincoln stopped to help an elderly woman driver out of her overturned 2-door coupe. The vehicle reportedly overturned when the woman swerved to avoid hitting a body in the roadway. The pedestrian was deceased in the Nos. 2 and 3 lanes, the report said.
The Interstate 680 Freeway crash happened just south of Alum Rock.
Other vehicles reportedly hit the pedestrian including a black Jeep Wrangler and a silver sedan.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the Jeep and the silver sedan from the scene.
Finally, investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
