Fatal San Jose Crash on Capitol Expressway and Snell Avenue

One Killed, One Injured in Car Accident

SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 20, 2023) — A two-vehicle fatal crash in San Jose at the Capitol Expressway and Snell Avenue intersection happened early Thursday morning.

The collision occurred around 1:10 a.m. on July 20th, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Two motorists collided due to unknown circumstances and both men were ejected from their vehicles, according to a report by NBC Bay Area.

Paramedics responded to the intersection and transported both people to a hospital, but one man died from his injuries.

The second man is being treated for major injuries, the report said. Police have not released the names or ages of the two men at this time.

Meanwhile, the cause of the crash and liability remains undetermined. Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.

Authorities closed down Capitol Expressway after the fatal crash in both directions between Snell Avenue and Vistapark Drive.

The man’s death is the 28th so far this year on roadways in San Jose, police said.
