Suspects in Deadly Crash Sought After Pregnant Woman Killed
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2023) – A pregnant woman died Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash on Blossom Hill Road in south San Jose.
Her unborn baby was delivered successfully at the hospital, but later died from major injuries suffered due to the collision, police said.
The deadly crash occurred at around 8:40 p.m. on Oct. 24th, at Winfield Boulevard, according to CBS News.
April Zoglauer, 21, of San Jose, was traveling eastbound in a black 2008 Nissan sedan when a white 2013 Hyundai heading southbound on Winfield Boulevard reportedly ran through a red light and crashed into her vehicle.
Two people from the unreported stolen 2013 Hyundai exited their vehicle and fled on foot after the crash. Police later arrested the driver, a 15-year-old boy, and he was booked at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded and transported the injured woman to a hospital, but she died shortly after at the hospital.
The young woman was working as was a preschool teacher, according to a GoFundMe page seeking to help her family with medical and funeral expenses.
The San Jose woman and her child became the 43rd and 44th traffic fatalities in San Jose this year.
Finally, witnesses or anyone with information about the collision may contact Detective Bowen of the San Jose Police Department’s traffic investigations unit over email or by calling 408-277-4654.
