Motorcyclist Crashes into Overturned Vehicle on I-880 Freeway
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2024) — A motorcycle rider is dead after a crash into another vehicle on the Interstate 880 Freeway, just south of The Alameda off-ramp.
Police issued a SigAlert after two separate collisions that happened on the northbound I-880 around 4:40 a.m. on Sept. 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the Harley Davidson or Kawasaki motorcycle collided with an overturned Honda Civic or Nissan from a previous crash involving two vehicles. The rider was thrown off the bike and into a bush between the freeway and the off-ramp, the report said.
Paramedics from the San Jose Fire Department responded to help those injured including the motorcyclist who had major injuries, but unfortunately the rider later died.
Tow trucks removed two cars and the motorcycle from the freeway as well as debris that had scattered across lanes from the two collisions.
The case remains under investigation and police will determine fault for the accident.
