Pedestrian Crossing I-680 Freeway Hit by Vehicle
SAN JOSE, Calif. (August 31, 2021) — A pedestrian accident on the Interstate 680 Freeway left a man dead Monday night in the San Jose area.
A driver reportedly struck the victim on the freeway about 8:40 p.m., just south of the Berryesa Road exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man, whose age and identity was not released, was attempting to cross the 680 freeway at the time of the incident.
Police Search for Hit-and-run Driver in San Jose
Meanwhile, authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver who failed to stop after the deadly pedestrian accident. They did not provide a description of the person or vehicle involved.
Investigators closed down all lanes of the I-680 Freeway after the pedestrian accident. Also, the CHP diverted traffic onto Berryesa Road.
The roadway remained closed for roughly four hours due to the fatal traffic accident investigation.
