The deadly crash occurred around 3:23 a.m. on Sept. 26th in the 40 block of South Jackson Avenue between the Interstate 680 Freeway and Alum Rock Avenue, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Police officers responded to the crash scene early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Jackson Square, KRON 4 reports. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene.

The garbage truck driver stopped and cooperated with investigators, according to San Jose police officials.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian death is the second in San Jose in a 24-hour period and is the third in the past four days.
This is the second pedestrian death involving a garbage truck in San Jose since Feb. 2022. Gina Kay Cunningham, 63, of San Jose, died last year when she was hit by a trash truck as she was taking her trash down to the street in the 400 block of Fontanelle Court. She apparently walked into the path of the California Waste Solutions truck’s blind spot.
