Eastbound Lanes Closed on Ortega Highway Due to Fatal Accident
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (JUNE 13, 2024) — A fatal two-vehicle car accident happened Thursday afternoon in San Juan Capistrano on Ortega Highway near Casper Park Road.
The traffic accident occurred at around 1:50 PM on Thursday June 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A grey van and a work pickup truck crashed into one another. Due to the crash a passenger from one of the vehicles died at the scene. There was a large amount of debris as a result of the collision near Ortega Highway. This resulted in a major traffic hazard on the roadway where the collision had taken place. The fire department advised that all the eastbound lanes of the Ortega Highway be shut down to avoid any more disturbance of the accident scene.
Paramedics responded and located those injured, and transported them to a hospital for further treatment of unknown injuries. Tow trucks were also requested on the scene to remove the damaged cars to restore traffic flow on the highway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal accident on Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano.
