1 Killed; Several Hurt in San Leandro Crash on I-880 Freeway
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2021) — At least one person is dead after a fatal San Leandro crash Tuesday on the southbound Interstate 880 Freeway in San Leandro.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash happened at 9:48 a.m. on Feb. 23rd. Multiple vehicles were involved in the collision. Two people were trapped in a silver Chevrolet Impala after an SUV rear-ended it and landed on the back of the vehicle, the report said.
Fatal San Leandro Collision on 880 Freeway
The collision involved a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that overturned. Also involved was a red Mazda CX5 SUV with major front-end damage. The report also stated a white Nissan van overturned with major front-end damage. Furthermore, a black Dodge SUV had major front-end damage.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at 10:23 a.m. Also, at least one other person was hurt in the collision, but there were no further details.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fatal San Leandro crash and liability. This story will be updated as more information is released by authorities.
