Pedestrian Struck, Killed on I-5 Freeway in Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2022) — A fatal Santa Ana pedestrian accident on the Interstate 5 Freeway happened Sunday night near 17th Street.
The deadly crash occurred in the southbound lanes about 9:18 p.m. on Sept. 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the pedestrian ran from the right shoulder across traffic lanes on the freeway towards the center divider. A driver in a white Toyota Camry struck the person between the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes, the CHP report said.
Meanwhile, the vehicle pulled over on the right shoulder after the crash.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities closed down the southbound I-5 Freeway and re-directed motorists off at 17th Street due to the investigation.
