1 Killed, 3 Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash in Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (May 14, 2024) – Maritza Martinez, 30, of Panorama City, died and four people were injured Saturday night in a crash at Sand Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita.
The two-vehicle crash, involving an alleged DUI driver, occurred at around 11:25 p.m. on May 11th, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol report.

The woman was a passenger in a southbound Toyota Corolla traveling on Sierra Highway. Carlos Garcia, 25, of Visalia, was driving the Toyota and reportedly turned left into the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Suburban SUV, according to a Hometown Station report.
The two vehicles collided and the front passenger identified as Maritza Martinez was severely injured.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and pronounced the Panorama City woman dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the LACFD transported the driver from the Toyota and two other two passengers to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The 19-year-old Santa Clarita woman driving the Chevrolet was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Additionally, police working on the case determined that Carlos Garcia was driving under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested for felony DUI causing injury.
Finally, investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Santa Clarita crash.
