Fatal Santa Cruz Pedestrian Accident Highway 1 and River Street
Man, 30, Struck and Killed on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2025) – A 30-year-old man from Santa Cruz County tragically lost his life in a pedestrian accident early Thursday morning on Highway 1 and River Street.
According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 20th at the Santa Cruz intersection.
A driver in a red Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when the car struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the roadway.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities withheld the man’s name pending notification of his next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and fully cooperated with authorities.
Santa Cruz Police are heading up the investigation into what happened.
At this time, there is no evidence of driver impairment or negligence, and no arrests have been made in connection with the crash.
