SANTA FE SPRINGS, California (October 11, 2016) –– A man identified as Victor Macedo, 55, of Santa Fe Springs, died early this morning in a crash involving multiple motorists on the Interstate 605 Freeway near Telegraph Road, California Highway Patrol reported.
At least three others suffered moderate to major injuries in the collision involving at least five vehicles.
The crash took place about 3:44 a.m. this morning in the southbound lanes.
Victor Macedo was in a Nissan Stanza that was reportedly rear-ended by a hit-and-run motorist. The vehicle crashed into the center divider where it was struck by at least two more motorists, a Nissan Maxima and a Ford Fusion.
The Ford then struck Macedo’s car head-on and burst into flames.
Finally, the Macedo’s car was struck by a pickup truck and that vehicle was broadsided by another motorist.
The Ford Fusion driver, a 30-year-old man, and the driver of the pickup, a 60-year-old man, were both seriously injured and rushed to St. Francis Med Center while a 35-year-old man transported to Kaiser Permanente in Downey,
