SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2023) — Laurie E. Bryant, 58, and Steven L. Bryant, 62, both died in a two-vehicle crash on Mount Hermon Drive in Scotts Valley.

Also, a juvenile traveling with the San Jose couple was critically injured in the collision on Wednesday evening August 30th, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

All three were riding together in a gold sedan that reportedly collided head-on with a white commercial van.

It happened at around 5 p.m. on Mount Herman Drive between Skypark Drive and Lockhart Gulch Road, police said. It’s unknown at this time what led up to the accident, but there were witness reports about a gold sedan allegedly driving erratically before the collision.

Meanwhile, paramedics responded and rushed the injured juvenile to a trauma center where she is expected to survive her injuries, according to Scotts Valley Police detective Sgt. Meredith Roberts.

Finally, the cause of the fatal Scotts Valley crash and liability are under investigation.
