Fatal Shafter Crash Zerker Road, Near Lerdo Highway

One Killed in Car Accident on Zerker Road in Shafter

KERN COUNTY, CALIF. (Feb. 27, 2024) — Six people were injured and one of them died after a Shafter crash on Zerker Road near Lerdo Highway.

The 3-vehicle collision happened at around 7 a.m. on February 27th just south of Lerdo Highway, according to the Kern County Fire Department and a report in Bakersfield Now.

Firefighters from Bakersfield and Shafter responded and located at least one person trapped in the wreckage. Using the Jaws of Life, firefighters extricated the person who died following the crash.

Paramedics were on the scene to help the injured, but it’s unknown if anyone was hospitalized.

Meanwhile, authorities closed down Zerker Road at 7th Standard Road and the Garlic Company intersection.

The case remains under investigation.
