Person Trapped Under Transit Bus on River Road
SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2021) — One person is dead and two injured after a collision between a Sonoma County transit bus and pickup truck in front of Korbel Champagne Cellars on River Road near Guerneville.
The collision happened at 11:56 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a pickup truck reportedly struck the transit bus in front of the main entrance to the winery. At least one person died in the crash and two others were injured. One person reportedly became trapped under the bus. The Sonoma County Fire Department responded to treat the injured, but at least one person died in the collision.
The fatal crash blocked the westbound lane of the roadway. Traffic is being diverted to Odd Fellows Park Road, but the eastbound lane remains open on River Road.
There are no further details about the collision at this time. Investigators will seek to determine liability for the collision.
