Pedestrian killed in 805 Freeway car accident
SORRENTO VALLEY, Calif. (August 10, 2018) — A person was struck and killed early Friday morning on the Interstate 805 Freeway at the Mira Mesa Road and Sorrento Valley Road exit, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The crash took place about 3:30 a.m. between the pedestrian and a driver in a Lexus sedan. The victim unfortunately died before paramedics could take them to a hospital. The driver stopped and cooperated with the California Highway Patrol investigation. Police had a portion of the roadway blocked off until about 5 a.m.
Pedestrian Accident Investigation
At this time, we do not know all the facts about this case. It’s unknown whether the pedestrian was crossing the road or was walking on the side of the freeway. At the time this collision took place, it would be quite dark on this roadway and difficult to see someone. However, under California law, motorists are required to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians at all times and watch out for their safety.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family.
In a case such as this one, there could also be more than one entity responsible for this collision including an employer if the driver was working at the time of the crash, an auto manufacturer or a government entity. A qualified attorney would conduct a full investigation into the circumstances and ensure all responsible parties are identified.
