Fatal Collision on I-5 Northbound in Country Club Area

STOCKTON, Calif., (October 27, 2026) — A solo-vehicle crash in Stockton resulted in a fatality Tuesday on the Interstate 5 Freeway Northbound near the Alpine Avenue onramp in the Country Club area.

The incident occurred on Oct. 27th at approximately 5:06 p.m., when a vehicle reportedly collided with a wall on the right-hand side of the roadway. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and emergency services responded promptly to the scene. The crash involved a single vehicle, which was seen leaking an unknown fluid following the impact.

Firefighters from Engine 6 and Engine 10, including Captain Alexander Smidt and Captain Johnathan Hellige, along with their respective teams, were dispatched to the location to manage the situation. Despite their efforts, the collision tragically resulted in at least one fatality. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash. The CHP has requested witnesses to come forward with any information that might assist in their investigation. They are particularly interested in understanding the vehicle’s movements prior to the collision.
