Pedestrian Hit by Semi-Truck on State Route 99

STOCKTON, Calif. (May 17, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident involving a semi-truck happened early Friday on Highway 99 near the Cherokee Road on ramp in Stockton.

The collision occurred on the southbound State Route 99 at around 4:46 a.m. on May 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the semi-truck driver called 911 to report they had struck an object in the slow lane. The object was actually a person who was reportedly walking near the roadway. The victim was hit by the big rig truck that was traveling around 50 mph, but then other vehicles also hit the person.

The big rig truck stopped and called 911 for help, CHP said.

Police responded and diverted all traffic off the highway at Cherokee Road due to the collision.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Stockton pedestrian accident on Highway 99.
