Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Stockton
Stockton, Calif. (December 26, 2024) – A deadly pedestrian accident early Christmas morning happened on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway at the Downing Avenue off ramp in Stockton.
The crash claimed the life of an unidentified person around 3:15 AM on Dec. 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as it traveled southbound on the busy freeway, the report said. The driver called 911 for help and told authorities the victim was down in the slow lane.
The pedestrian was found in the fast lane of the freeway and paramedics from the Stockton Fire Department pronounced the victim dead due to severe injuries from the accident.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian’s presence on the freeway.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time, but an investigation is ongoing. The CHP has not indicated if alcohol, drugs, or speeding were factors in the collision.
This is the second fatal pedestrian accident reported in Stockton in the past month, raising concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.
