Man, 69, Struck, Killed on Lucknow Avenue
TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2021) – A 69-year-old man died Monday night in a pedestrian accident on Lucknow Avenue near Red Bluff.
The California Highway Patrol reported the man was walking northbound on Lucknow Avenue when a driver struck him just south of Dunvin Court.
The deadly crash happened about 10:40 p.m. in the middle of the roadway.
Randy Aspillaga, 51, reportedly struck the victim while traveling northbound on Lucknow Ave. just south of Dunvin Court.
Pedestrian Accident Lucknow Avenue
Randy Aspillaga told authorities he thought he struck a deer in the northbound lane. However, once Aspillaga returned home he saw on social media that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the location.
The motorist contacted officials and an investigation took place at his home.
The victim’s identity is unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, officials with the CHP say drugs or alcohol are not a factor in the crash. It’s unknown if any charges will be filed against the driver at this time.
