Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Highway 74 in Temecula
TEMECULA, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2022) — Peter McCluney, 35, of Perris, died in a fatal Temecula pedestrian accident happened Wednesday night on Highway 74 near Taylor Road.
A driver struck the victim about 6:43 p.m. on Feb. 2nd on State Route 74, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
CHP officials reported a driver in a truck with a trailer initially struck the victim before several other vehicles ran over the person in the eastbound No. 2 lane.
The truck driver pulled over to the side of the roadway after the collision and called 911 for help.
Meanwhile, paramedics with Cal Fire Riverside Fire Department and police responded to the scene, but Peter McCluney died at the scene. Investigators collected evidence and took measurements at the scene after they diverted traffic away from the crash scene.
Police will determine liability for the Highway 74 pedestrian accident after they complete the investigation.
