Semi-Truck Overturns, Pickup Driver Killed in Santa Barbara County Crash
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2024) — A fatal head-on truck accident happened Friday morning on the southbound Highway 101 in the Naples area of Santa Barbara County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 2:48 a.m. on Jan. 5th, just north of Dos Pueblos Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Pickup Truck on Fire
CHP officials reported one of the vehicles crossed over the center divider and crashed into the other vehicle. The pickup truck caught on fire and became fully engulfed in the center divide of the highway. The man driving the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Furthermore, the semi-truck overturned onto its side and its driver sustained minor injuries, but refused transport to a hospital.
Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert for Highway 101 due to multiple lanes being blocked and debris scattered across the highway.
Police are working on the case to determine fault for the head-on truck accident on Highway 101.
