
Semi-Truck in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Encinitas
ENCINITAS, Calif. (April 10, 2023) — A fatal crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Encinitas happened Monday between a semi-truck and other motorists near Moonlight Beach.
At least three vehicles were involved in the pileup collision around 10:45 a.m. on April 10th on the southbound I-5, just south of Encinitas Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers involved included the big rig truck, a black Ford Explorer SUV, a gray sedan and a white SUV with major damage.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the death of at least one person at the scene. It’s unknown at this time how many others were injured in the crash.
Investigators are piecing together evidence and statements by those involved as well as witnesses to determine fault for the crash.
