1 Dead, 1 Injured in Tulare County Crash on Highway 137
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2021) — A fatal Tulare County crash happened Friday on Highway 137 and Road 68.
The two-vehicle crash killed one of the drivers about 2 a.m. at the intersection located just west of Tulare, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Nissan Pathfinder traveling southbound on Road 68 allegedly failed to stop at Road 68, police said.
Investigators Nissan SUV reportedly broadsided an oncoming eastbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The driver in the Nissan got thrown from his vehicle because he was not wearing a seatbelt. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the second driver in the Chevrolet suffered major injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported him by ambulance to Kaweah Health Center for treatment.
Finally, investigators with the CHP seek to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors.
