Fatal Turlock Crash Highway 99, Lander Avenue

1 Killed, Child Injured in Wrong-Way Driver Crash

TURLOCK, Calif. (June 20, 2023) — A fatal wrong-way crash in Turlock on Highway 99 left one person dead and a child with injuries near the Lander Avenue on ramp.

A wrong-way driver was reportedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred between two motorists in the No. 1 lane of Highway 99 around 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20th, police said. One of the vehicles caught on fire after the crash.

Paramedics with the Turlock Fire Department responded and rushed the injured child to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The juvenile was traveling with an adult male, but that person’s condition is unknown at this time. It’s unknown if the other motorist was hospitalized or if there were any passengers in that vehicle.

Meanwhile, at least one adult reportedly died at the scene of the crash.

An investigation is underway to determine what factors led up to the collision involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 99 in Turlock.
