Thomas Kelly, 27, Killed in Turlock Hit-and-run Collision on Hwy 99
TURLOCK, Calif. (August 3, 2021) — A fatal Turlock Highway 99 hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened early Tuesday morning near Main Street.
UPDATE: Thomas Kelly, 27, of Delhi, was the pedestrian killed in the Highway 99 crash, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff Coroner.
Authorities located the deceased 27-year-old Delhi man at 2:57 a.m. on the southbound side of Highway 99. Debris from the collision was scattered across traffic lanes. It’s unknown why the pedestrian was on the highway this morning.
Police officials are on the lookout for the driver who fled the scene after hitting the victim, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators did not release the victim’s name, pending notification of his family.
Additionally, the CHP report does not provide details about the vehicle involved or the motorist. However, police mentioned the vehicle will likely have significant front-end damage due to the collision. Meanwhile, the roadway reopened to traffic about 5:48 a.m. this morning following the fatal Turlock crash on Highway 99.
