One Dead, Two Injured in Crash on Eastgate Mall
UNIVERSITY CITY, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2022) — A fatal University City crash happened Thursday morning at Eastgate Mall and Town Centre Drive in San Diego County.

The deadly, two-vehicle collision occurred about 9:18 a.m. on Nov. 17th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The 74-year-old man driving a Mitsubishi SUV with a female passenger allegedly drove a red light at the University City intersection. His SUV reportedly collided with an oncoming Honda Accord traveling north on Town Center Drive. The Honda crashed into the side of the Mitsubishi SUV, causing the SUV to overturn onto its side and careen into a light pole.
The elderly man driving the Mitsubishi suffered fatal injuries in the collision and his 73-year-old female passenger suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Additionally, the driver from the Honda experienced chest pain.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded and rushed the two injured people to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and ask witnesses to call the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division at (858) 495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
