Fatal Ventura Motorcycle Crash on State Route 33 Near Main Street

Deadly Motorcycle Accident on Ojai Freeway (SR-33)

VENTURA, Calif. (August 13, 2026) — A fatal motorcycle versus car accident happened Thursday afternoon on southbound State Route 33, just north of Main Street in Ventura County, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch information.

The collision was reported on August 13th at approximately 3:45 p.m. and involved a red motorcycle and another vehicle. CHP dispatch initially reported a possible gray Honda Civic that flew off the roadway and entered a nearby bike path.

According to the CHP log, a vehicle involved in the crash came to rest approximately 100 yards off the roadway in the river. Fire personnel responded to the scene.

CHP later reported that an additional vehicle may have been involved and left the scene. Officers requested a hard closure of the roadway while emergency crews responded.

The incident was classified as a fatality. Additional details about the victim, circumstances of the collision and the vehicle that reportedly left the scene were not immediately available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
