Man, 34, Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 18
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2022) — A fatal Victorville pedestrian accident on Highway 18 near the Mojave River Bridge happened Thursday morning at Stoddard Wells Road.
The deadly crash occurred about 2:27 a.m. on Sept. 8th, according to Victorville Daily Press.
Tonatiuh Diaz, 34, was reportedly walking in a westbound direction in the No. 1 lane of Highway 18. A driver in a Nissan Altima struck him near the bridge that connects Apple Valley and Victorville, the report said.
Paramedics with the Victorville Fire Department responded to the the scene along with American Medical Response. They transported the injured man to a hospital where he later died due to major injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver from the Nissan Altima and a witness both stopped and cooperated with police and the investigation. There are no other injuries reported.
The Victorville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is heading up the investigation.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Division released the victim’s name.
