3 Killed in Rollover Collision on Hwy 198
VISALIA, Calif. (August 14, 2023) – Three people were killed Monday in a solo-vehicle Visalia crash on Highway 198, just east of Plaza Drive.
The solo-vehicle collision occurred at 3:45 a.m. on August 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials responded to the scene of the collision where a Ford F-350 pickup truck overturned on the westbound side of Highway 198.
Three people were traveling in the westbound pickup truck on Highway 198, heading towards Plaza Drive. The driver reportedly allowed the truck to drift off the southern edge of the road and into the gravel median. The driver attempted to turn the vehicle to the right and return to the roadway, but completely lost control and the vehicle went off the north edge of Highway 198. The truck overturned multiple times before it came to a rest after the driver and one passenger were ejected. The second passenger was wearing a seatbelt, but also died in the crash.
The cause of the fatal Visalia crash on Highway 198 remains under investigation.
