Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-680, Rudgear Road
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2024) — One person is dead after a Walnut Creek car accident involving three vehicles on the northbound Interstate 680 Freeway near Rudgear Road.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Oct. 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a white GMC truck, a Honda sedan, and a grey Nissan Maxima were involved, but it’s unknown what led up to the collision.
The vehicles were blacked out and debris was scattered across the freeway. Other motorists nearly hit them, but some bystanders stopped to help those involved. Police issued a SigAlert and responded to help those involved.
The Honda had major all-around damage, the truck overturned onto its side, and the Nissan was not drivable due to damage.
Paramedics also responded to the scene and located three people trapped in one of the vehicles and at least one person with major injuries.
One person died following the crash, but there are no further details.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Walnut Creek car accident on the 680 Freeway.
