Deadly Crash on I-5 Freeway in Walnut Grove
WALNUT GROVE, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2025) — A fatal truck accident happened early Thursday morning on the Interstate 5 Freeway, just north of Twin Cities Road in Walnut Grove.
The deadly crash occurred in southbound lanes at around 4:51 a.m. on Feb. 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig truck reportedly jackknifed and landed on top of a sedan in the fast lane. The truck wound up diagonal on the freeway blocking traffic lanes.
The driver in the car suffered major injuries but was still breathing when firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene. However, they were unable to save the person who died on scene.
Authorities closed down southbound lanes at Twin Cities Road due to the crash and investigation into the fatality.
