One Dead in Fiery Freeway Crash
WEST COVINA, Calif. (April 27, 2022) — A fatal West Covina crash involving a Caltrans vehicle happened early Wednesday morning on the Interstate 10 Freeway in West Covina.
The fiery, high-speed crash occurred about 12:03 a.m. on April 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person died in the wreck after a vehicle traveling at high speed struck the Caltrans vehicle and then a wall. The report does not mention if anyone else suffered injuries in the crash. Also, authorities did not release the gender, age or name of the victim.
The California Highway Patrol reported the incident in the eastbound lanes of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, just west of Azusa Avenue.
Two vehicles suffered major damage in the fatal West Covina crash and one caught on fire, according to the CHP.
Investigators ordered all lanes of the freeway closed for several hours and issued a SigAlert, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
