Woman Struck and Killed on 10 Freeway in West Covina
WEST COVINA, Calif. (July 5, 2022) – A fatal West Covina crash involving a pedestrian happened early Tuesday morning on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the collision at 12:41 a.m. on July 5th. The caller told them a woman wearing dark clothing was walking in the slow lane of the eastbound I-10 freeway near the Holt Avenue on-ramp.
A few minutes later, at 12:47 a.m., a witness told CHP dispatch operators the woman was down near the right shoulder. She was in front of a white pickup truck with a camper shell.
Additionally, the witnesses reported to police they saw a man get out of the truck, walk around and get back into the vehicle before he drove away.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene of the crash, but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
Meanwhile, the CHP issued a SigAlert at about 1 a.m. and closed the eastbound Nos. 4 and 5 lanes to conduct an investigation.
Traffic lanes reopened at 4:50 a.m.
