Pedestrian Killed, Another Critically Injured in Westlake Crash

LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2025) – A late-night crash in the Westlake area of Los Angeles left one pedestrian dead and another critically injured after a vehicle involved in a collision careened onto a sidewalk.

The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, May 11th at the intersection of Eighth and Alvarado streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities said a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street collided with another vehicle heading westbound on Eighth Street. The force of the impact sent the southbound vehicle off the road and onto the southwest corner sidewalk, striking two men.

Paramedics transported both pedestrians to a nearby hospital, where a 45-year-old man was pronounced dead. The second man remains in critical condition.

Information regarding the condition or identity of the drivers involved has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
