1 Dead in Crash on 405 Freeway in Westminster
WESTMINSTER, Calif. (April 26, 2021) – A fatal Westminster crash left one person dead early Monday morning on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway.
Additionally, the crash was one of two separate collisions reported at 1:18 a.m. on the San Diego Freeway at Beach Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reports a two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of one person and a second crash involving three vehicles reported only property damage.
Police reported a gray Ford Mustang was blocking the right lane with dim rear lights. A driver in a yellow Ford Focus wound up facing the wrong way after they attempted to avoid a collision with the Mustang and spun out.
Furthermore, there were no further details about what caused the two collisions.
Meanwhile, died at the scene about 1:44 a.m., the CHP said. The Orange County Sheriff Coroner has not identified the victim at this time, but they will release the name after relatives are notified.
Police issued a SigAlert at 1:40 a.m. for all northbound lanes between Newland Street and Beach Boulevard. Later, all lanes reopened at 3:24 a.m.
Investigators will determine the cause of both collisions after the Westminster Crash on the 405 Freeway.
