Fatal Wrong-Way Driver Crash Highway 180 in Fresno
Deadly Crash Involving Suspected DUI Driver; 3 Hurt
FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2023) — Ashok Kumar, 29, of Fresno, died Saturday in a fatal wrong-way driver crash on Highway 180, just east of Armstrong Avenue in Fresno.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4th, according to the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
The victim was riding as a passenger in a Honda Accord driven by his cousin Vikash Kumar, 30, who is accused of driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 180, according to Your Central Valley news.

The Honda attempted to make a U-turn after realizing he was going in the wrong direction and collided with a westbound driver in a Buick Enclave. The second car crashed into the passenger side of the Honda, killing its passenger identified as Ashok Kumar.
The alleged wrong-way driver sustained major injuries and was hospitalized after the crash. Two people from the Buick sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The California Highway Patrol reportedly the intend to file charges of felony vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police were alerted to the wrong-way vehicle by witnesses before the two vehicles collided.
The fatal crash on Highway 180 remains under investigation.
