2-Vehicle crash on I-5 Freeway between Yreka and Hornbrook
YREKA, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2021) — A fatal Yreka crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway Monday afternoon left at least one person dead.
The collision happened about 12:21 p.m. on Sept. 13th, just south of Hornbrook, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a truck and car collided due to unknown circumstances.
The vehicles blocked the No. 2 lane and one of them caught on fire.
At least one person died in the fatal Interstate 5 crash in Yreka, but the CHP report did not elaborate.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the collision. Witnesses may reach out to the CHP’s investigative team.
The name of the person who died is unknown at this time. The identity will be released after the person’s family members are notified of the Yreka collision on the Interstate 5.
