Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Crash on Highway 99
YUBA CITY, Calif. (August 22, 2022) – A 31-year-old Oroville man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Hutchinson Road, just south of Yuba City in Sutter County.
The deadly crash occurred about 5:20 a.m. on August 22nd, according to ABC10 News.
Apparently, the Oroville man was trying to get someone to stop and help him after he crashed his white Ford Fusion in a ditch on the side of Highway 99.
However, as he stood in traffic lanes waving at passing motorists, a driver in a southbound silver Honda Civic struck him. He was thrown into the northbound lanes where a gray Honda Civic also struck him.
The two motorists stopped and someone called for help.
However, the injured man suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision, but didn’t mention which person had been drinking.
